Apply for the 2017 GRAMMY U Texas Scholarship

The Recording Academy® Texas Chapter Board offers GRAMMY U members the opportunity to receive financial assistance with their college education through our GRAMMY U Texas Scholarship Fund. If you are a full-time student and a GRAMMY U member, carefully read the criteria below and take advantage of this exclusive opportunity you receive as a GRAMMY U Texas member.

Managed by the Texas Chapter’s Philanthropy Committee, the Chapter’s scholarship program furthers our mission to cultivate the musical gifts and talents of the next generation of music professionals by garnering contributions to scholarships that will enhance the passion, magnificence, and inspiration of music and the recording arts.

CRITERIA: 

- Applicant must be a full-time college student and an active GRAMMY U member at the Texas Chapter with a graduation date no earlier than December 2017.

- Applicant must submit a copy of their transcript showing a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

- Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation.

- Applicant must provide copy of resume.
 
Volunteer work and community involvement heavily considered.

- ESSAY: Select ONE of the questions below (300 Word Minimum/500 Word Maximum):
     a. Why are you choosing a career in the music industry? 
     b. What does music mean to you and how has it impacted your life?
     c. Discuss your future field of expertise in the music business and what you have done and will do to make your goals a reality?
     d. State why you are the best candidate for a scholarship, listing examples that show dedication to your music education, elaborating on your music industry experience listed on your resume, your educational and professional goals, etc.

The deadline for scholarship applications is May 22, 2017.

Candidates selected will be notified and formally interviewed via phone or in-person by members of The Recording Academy Texas Chapter Board in May 2017. Candidates will be selected and notified by June 2017.

PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship funds will be awarded directly to the student’s college institution.

Scholarship amount and number of candidates is decided by The Recording Academy Texas Chapter Board.
