Following multi GRAMMY-nominated group HANSON’s annual Hop Jam Festival, the Recording Academy in partnership with HANSON hosted a Music Industry Meet Up.  The Tulsa music community was invited to learn about the Recording Academy, network with fellow music industry professionals, and enjoy Songwriters In The Round--a special performance featuring some of Tulsa's talented artists.

Chapter Board members Taylor Hanson, Laura Mordecai, and Mark Stansberry shared information about the different facets of the Recording Academy and encouraged each person specially invited to get involved in the advocacy, education, and human services initiatives that directly impact the lives of artists and promote the value of music in our culture.

Songwriters In The Round followed where HANSON invited country duo and NBC’s The Voice season 4 finalists The Swon Brothers and owner of Armstrong Studios Stephen Egerton to showcase the musical talent in the Oklahoma area among members. Not only did they share incredible acoustic performances in an intimate setting at the Woody Guthrie Center theatre, but also colorful stories, insight into the creative process, and the background of each song while taking turns performing. The Tulsa music community enjoyed a truly one-of-a-kind event.
