What can people expect from your set?

People can expect energetic, soulful and blissful sensations

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Stay humble, and put God first

The Fox & The Hounds (Jazz/Rock)

Chicago's only burlesque rock n' roll band, The Fox & The Hounds create seductive and sensual sounds with elements of old school grunge, electronic rock and cabaret-style performance. Lead vocalist and songwriter Kendel Lester, who has worked with Styx's Dennis DeYoung, wraps each song in a flamboyant, commanding coo as she's backed by a small army of top-notch performers mixing dark themes with the whimsy of a Broadway musical. Rounded out by bassist Ira Ochs, guitarist Mike Sviokla, guitarist Aidan Mouat, and drummer Tony Panico, the band has a countless array of genres and feels to pull from, and The Fox & The Hounds' self-titled debut album reflects this at every turn. With the impending release of their new EP out this summer, The Fox & The Hounds are well on their way to making their mark.

What can people expect from your set?

High energy, over driven guitars and confetti. Lots of confetti.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

It's ok to say no. In this business there's a lot of people that want to take advantage of you, especially as a woman. Be it playing for free, or threatening to never book you again, never be afraid to determine your worth and stick to your guns; in due time the right people and the right opportunities will come along.

Lili K. (Jazz/R&B)

Lili K. is the jazzy, soulful voice you hear in your favorite Chicago hip-hop artist's music (cue Acid Rap and Innanetape), but she has much more to bring to the table than just background vocals. Her smooth and sultry sound is countered well by the melodic keys, hard hitting drums, guitar licks, and soulful bass of her band. Her amazing live performances have been featured at SXSW, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Summerfest and CMJ, and she has shared stages with the likes of Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, BJ The Chicago Kid, Chance The Rapper, and Vic Mensa. She was listed in 'Best of 2013' lists on Rolling Stone, NPR, and Complex for her feature work. Lili will release her self-produced debut album, Ruby, on April 21st, 2015 with The Lili K. Band. She's a fresh face to the game with a modernly vintage sound; there is much more to come from this young vocalist.

What can people expect from your set?

Performing has always been my favorite element of music, because it's always a unique experience. My band and I genuinely love playing together, and I think that love comes through in our sets... we just have fun. We experiment with different renditions of our songs, we always incorporate improvisation, we have fun with our audience. People can expect a lot of grooves, they can expect to sing along, and they can expect to leave feeling good.

What has been the best piece of advice you’ve received?

My biggest learning experience in regards to music actually came from terrible advice. A few years ago, I had a meeting with a record label exec, and he wanted to sign me - under the conditions that I sing pop music, wear more revealing clothing, and basically "sex" up my image. He told me if I did that, I could be a star. It was at that moment that I realized I wasn't making music to become famous, but because I truly loved it. So I turned down a lot of money and a record deal to make the jazzy, soulful music I wanted to make and wear the vintage grandma sweaters that I like to wear. The advice that man gave me showed me that happiness and love were the driving forces behind my passion, and that I should never lose focus of those things.

Describe your sound in 3 words?

Jazzy throwback soul.
