Dessa is a rapper, songwriter, essayist, and a proud member of the hip hop collective Doomtree. Based in Minneapolis, she spends much of her time on the road, visiting festivals, clubs, schools and shelters from New York to Warsaw, Montreal to Johannesburg. Her most recent record, Parts of Speech, debuted in Billboard's Top 100. As an educator and a speaker, she delivered the keynote address at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, won the AWARE award for the promotion of gender equality, and partnered with the American Embassy to share entrepreneurial techniques with artists in South Africa. She's now preparing for her first Australian tour.
