What was your first live music experience?
I saw the Cheap Trick Dream Police tour with my mom and brother at Vets Auditorium in Des Moines, IA. I was instantly hooked.
Why did you choose your profession?
It's was more like it chose me. I was playing in an indie folk band in Minneapolis after college and I started working as a preschool teacher during the day. I wrote a few songs for the kids and eventually made a record of those songs just for fun. I left Minneapolis for Divinity School at the University of Chicago and the kids record kind of took off. I finished my degree, made another family record and started touring. I'm currently finishing up my 12th recording for families which will be released this fall.
What are your 2 favorite albums?
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds and Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
