The Recording Academy ® Chicago Chapter presents Impactful Songwriting

A great song delivers a poignant message. A great song can carry a different meaning for different listeners. A great song can live forever! Powerful songwriting shapes music creator careers as much as their listeners' ears. Listen to the stories of Chicago's prolific musicians across genres and generations explain their creative songwriting processes, and impact on the music industry.

Moderated by Susan Voelz - Susan Voelz is a rock violin pioneer and original member of Poi dog Pondering.  She has also toured and recorded with punk poet Alejandro Escovedo, British rock legend Ronnie Lane and John Mellencamp. She is a songwriter, composer, arranger and author.  Her most recent record, "Beautiful Life: Songs of Prince Re-imagined," was released on Octave 8 Records.

Panelists:

Jim Peterik - Jim Peterik is a GRAMMY®-winning singer, performer, songwriter -- including co-writer of Eye Of The Tiger, along with 18 other Top 10 Hits.

Mick Jenkins - Mick Jenkins is an American hip-hop recording artist raised on the south side of Chicago. Mick is currently fresh off the release of his debut studio debut album "THC (The Healing Component)".

Brigid Murphy - Panelist: Brigid Murphy – Shortcut to the Soul/Totally True Tales™ is a writing technique created by Brigid to help individuals unlock their creative voice through autobiographical writing.  Brigid has been teaching this process for over 15 years to individuals, groups and at Universities.
