Los Angeles - GRAMMY U Breaking Into The Business: Touring

GRAMMY U's picture

On Wednesday, November 1 our members had the chance to attend the GRAMMY U Breaking Into the Business: Touring panel. The event featured Manuel Moran (VP of Latin Programming at House of Blues Entertainment, a division of Live Nation Entertainment), Elmo Lovano (Musical Director and Founder, JAMMCARD) and JB Blot (Tour Manager, Odesza, Julia Michaels, A$AP Rocky and CEO of Motion Music). The conversation was moderated by David Brik, GRAMMY U Representative for Los Angeles.

The panelists touched upon many aspects of the touring industry, including how to prepare for a tour, how to market live performances, as well as the future of the industry. After the moderated conversation, we opened it up to questions. GRAMMY U members asked the panelists all about life on the road and how to stay grounded while on tour. They also discussed festivals and how these are an essential source of income for artists.

Ultimately, it was an incredibly insightful panel and GRAMMY U members left the room with a better understanding of what it’s like to work in the touring industry. Thanks to Manuel, Elmo and JB for helping inspire the next generation!
