On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, GRAMMY U Los Angeles members attended Dua Lipa’s sound check at the Belasco Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. Dua Lipa, who is currently on a North American tour, is a London-born singer with over 203 million single streams, as well as the second biggest selling British female this year after Adele for single sales.

Although Dua Lipa was ordered by her doctors to be on vocal rest for the entire day, GRAMMY U members were greeted by the singer herself as we entered the venue. Each student got to meet the singer and then take an individual picture with her. After meeting Dua Lipa and taking a group shot, students were able to hear the band rehearse two of her biggest songs: “Last Dance” and “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” which just recently entered the U.S. Pop Radio Top 40 chart.

Later, we proceeded to a Q&A with the singer’s tour manager, Peter Abbott, who is based in the UK. GRAMMY U members had the great opportunity to ask him questions about everything from the sound system to the different types of venues that can be chosen when planning a tour. It was definitely a very informative and intimate experience for all involved!
