New York GRAMMY U members had the unique opportunity to attend a SoundChecks with Troye Sivan at Terminal 5 in Manhattan on November 15.  Originally an actor and YouTube sensation, Troye has since become a global pop phenom, garnering over 4,000,000 listeners per month on Spotify alone.  The 21-year-old icon is currently embarking on his Suburbia world tour.

GRAMMY U members entered the venue at approximately 3:20PM to catch the final two songs of Troye’s sound check.  In between songs, Troye warmly welcomed the students and thanked them for being there.  Once his sound check was complete, he descended from the stage for a quick Q&A session with GRAMMY U.  He spoke briefly about his transition from Youtube star to global pop artist, mentioning his desire to remain personally connected to his art and citing that his fans always seemed to understand his message, regardless of the platform.

Troye was incredibly engaged throughout the event, pausing to ask GRAMMY U members about the program and what they hoped to accomplish in the future.  After a group photo, he thanked members again and gave a wave goodbye before heading backstage to prepare for his show.  The experience was most definitely a treat for GRAMMY U.
