Texas: Volunteer Opportunity At South By Southwest 2018 With MyMusic Rx
The Children’s Cancer Association (CCA) is excited to be coming back to Austin for our 6th annual YOU WHO! Rock Show for Kids, a family-friendly concert at the FADER FORT on Thursday
March 15 and would be thrilled to have you volunteer. This event is a benefit for CCA’s flagship program, MyMusicRx, which delivers the healing power of music to hospitalized kids across the country, playing music for and with them to reduce stress, anxiety, and perception. One hundred percent of ticket sales will support MyMusicRx Austin programs at St. David’s Children’s Hospital and Dell Children’s Medical Center.
Over the last 5 years we’ve cultivated a devoted following of Austin kids and grownups who turn out forup close performances from artists like Shakey Graves, Best Coast, Sara Watkins, Les Claypool, Heartless Bastards, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. The show features a variety show format with 4-5 bands along with giant owl mascots, air guitar shred-offs, and an art guitar craft zone. Confirmed artists for this year include Lucy Dacus, Kyle Craft, and U.S. Girls (Meg Remy), with special guests to be announced.
Volunteer opportunities include selling MyMusicRx merch and raffle tickets, checking in ticket holders, and even being our trademark giant owl mascots, if you want to be part of the show. Volunteers will be needed on site from around 8am – 1:00pm TBD.
You can check out last year’s performances here and photos here. Our one-sheet overview can also be seen below.
Please contact Whitney Wilhardt, WWilhardt@JoyRx.org ASAP to volunteer. We’d love to have you on board!
