The Recording Academy Nashville Chapter in partnership with the Producers & Engineers Wing recently presented In The Mix: Listening Session at Addiction Sound Studios in the Berry Hill neighborhood, which is known for its studio community. Addiction Sound Studio is a private studio owned by Jonathan Cain (Journey) and David Kalmusky, and designed by Chris Hudson. Leading our listening session was P&E Wing Committee Co-Chair, Julian King, and those performing a song included Jason Lenning, Jim Catino, Bil Vorndick, Jon Randall Stewart, Russ Long, Dan Shike, Garth Fundis, Steve Ivey and Rick Clark. The tracks played included many genres including country, pop and rock. Our Chapter’s P&E Wing was given a chance to discuss the importance of individual and unique recording techniques, and the inspiration behind each track. This repeat event is always highly anticipated among our Chapter, with an attendance of about 45, it allows our P&E wing members a chance to step out of the studio and socialize in a casual setting among peers.

Special thanks to Addiction Sound Studios General Manager, David Kalmusky, Ethan Barrette and the staff, who helped put this great event together.

This was super fun! It was great to see some of my buddies get up and present something they've worked on for us all to listen to, and then just get to hang out with everybody.
