GRAMMY-Nominated Producer, SaLaAM ReMI participated in our ‘In the Studio - Art of the Craft Series’ with a special demonstration entitled ‘Anatomy of a Hit’ held at the New York Chapter office.

Moderated by Musician and Washington D.C. Chapter Board member, James McKinney; SaLaAM graciously walked our members and non-members through his techniques when masterminding some of the biggest hits this music industry has heard!

SaLaAM discussed his passion, his drive, his humble beginnings and what it takes to create ‘magic’ in the studio.  He discussed his core principles when approaching a song for an artist. He broke down the various elements and components within the tracks and why he decides to use certain instruments.  He also went into detail about the inspiration behind his huge hits and his close relationships with the artists he has produced.  For example; he referenced the late, Amy Winehouse and how they were extremely close and how she is always looking down on him from above.

Upon concluding his demonstration, SaLaAM answered various production questions from our members and provided a wealth of advice for anyone looking to become a producer.

After the Q&A portion; our members and non-members had the opportunity to network and ask additional production and industry related questions with SaLaAM, James and the New York Chapter staff.

Thanks to SaLaAM and James for an amazing event!!  We appreciate their time and effort in making this ‘In the Studio’ event a huge success!!

We also want to thank Co-Chairs of the P&E Wing Committee; Scott Jacoby and Ann Mincieli for their efforts as well.
