From Mic To Mix PNW
Producers And Engineers Wing
The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing hosted the third installation of the highly successful and engaging From Mic To Mix series on Tuesday July 14, 2015, making a stop in the Pacific Northwest to record Seattle based artist Star Anna at London Bridge Studios. Using an assortment of Harman Professional hardware and software items to support the session, Producer and P&E Wing Steering Committee Co-Chair Mike Clink walked attendees through the tracking process, identifying microphone selection and placement, signal processing techniques and monitoring options. London Bridge Studios co-owner and Producer/Engineer Geoff Ott then discussed his approach to mixing, with Clink offering additional tips for carving out the 'perfect' sound. Representatives from AKG, dbx, JBL Professional, and Lexicon were on site to talk tech and identify the products and technologies used during the session. The event began and ended with brief networking that included eats from Chipotle, beer, wine and Margaritas. At the close of the evening, Lexicon graciously gifted attendees with a free plug-in as a token of their appreciation for attending and experiencing Harman Professional products.. Familiar faces in the crowd included P&E Wing Steering Committee Member Glenn Lorbecki, Pro-Audio Author and Recording Academy Trustee Bill Gibson, Composer/Producer Dave Gross, Artist and Producer David Miles Huber, Technologist and Mastering Engineer Steve Turnridge among others.
