P&E Wing/GRAMMYs In My District Listening Session – Memphis – 10/13/15
Immediately following the Memphis Chapter’s GRAMMYs in My District Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Steve Cohen at Music + Arts Studio, Rep. Cohen was invited to join a Producers & Engineers Wing Listening Session at which top Memphis producers and engineers played tracks from recent recording projects. Cohen was invited to sit in the control room’s sweet spot “producer’s chair” from which he also got to operate master volume control for the sessions. The group heard new recordings by Trina Shoemaker, Gebre Waddell, Kevin Houston, Scott Bomar, Susan Marshall, Boo Mitchell and Adam Hill, and attendees took advantage of Cohen’s participation in the Listening Session to conduct an enlightening conversation regarding how producers and engineers are compensated.
“Your Credits, YOUR Money, the New Data Standards & DDEX—What YOU Need to Know!” panel at 139th AES Convention – New York City – 10/31/15
This well-attended Producers & Engineers Wing and DDEX (Digital Data Exchange) panel showcased the recent work of DDEX in developing its Recording Information Notification (RIN) standard. RIN will facilitate the capture and communication of all aspects of a studio event, including the P&E Wing’s minimum recommended data set (credits) that you can see here: http://content.grammy.com/PDFs/Recording_Academy/Producers_And_Engineers/BasicCreditsList.pdf. RIN will also provide studio equipment manufacturers the ability for users to capture and store essential recording metadata so it can be communicated into the commercial supply chain alongside audio files, a process that will pave the way for recording credits to travel efficiently from studios to record labels to digital service providers. A description of RIN is now available to the community for comment. Find out more about this important development at www.ddex.net/rin.
Moderated by Paul Jessop of County Analytics, the panel featured DDEX members and staff, including SoundExchange COO Jonathan Bender, P&E Wing Managing Director Maureen Droney, DDEX Secretariat Niels Rump and BMS/Chace President John Spencer.

The P&E Wing’s always-anticipated AES GRAMMY SoundTables event once again was a highlight of the conference.
