April 4 – New York – P&E Wing Outreach Dinner

The Recording Academy New York Chapter Producers & Engineers Wing Committee Co-Chairs Scott Jacoby and Ann Mincieli hosted a Producers & Engineers Wing Outreach Dinner at Upright Brew House. This intimate event aimed to spread awareness about the importance and mission of the P&E Wing of The Recording Academy—to educate attendees on committee initiatives, secure up-and-coming and established talent for membership, and also add to the P&E Wing’s membership of diverse and influential producers and engineers.

Attendees included Ariel Borujow, Mark Wilder, Kim Rosen, SP Polanco, Zeke Michanec, Ebonie Smith, Marioso DeJesus, Maria Triana, and Steve Wall. The New York Chapter Executive Director Nick Cucci and Membership Manager Yasmin DeSoiza were also in attendance to represent the Academy and answer questions.

April 26 – Los Angeles – In The Mix: Listening Session

The Los Angeles Chapter hosted a listening session with Brandon Boyd and Mike Einziger of Incubus and co-producer of the latest Incubus release, Skrillex. Newly elected LA Chapter President, Peter Asher, moderated the session which was held in Studio D at The Village. Industry professionals and LAC Board members heard selected tracks from the album, titled 8, along with a discussion on the creative and collaborative efforts that went into them. Topics included how the collaboration between Incubus and Skrillex occurred, how Skrillex, widely known as a leading electronic artist, blended his knowledge of EDM production techniques with his appreciation for rock vocals, as well as a lively tangential discussion about the musical “SPAMALOT” and the panel’s general appreciation for Monty Python.
