Texas Chapter

On Saturday, March 21 the Texas Chapter alongside the Producers & Engineers Wing presented “Art Of The Craft With Larry Klein” at the renowned Arlyn Studios in Austin, Texas. Taking place during Austin’s premier music week—South By Southwest Music & Media Conference—the event provided the opportunity for members across Chapters to network with peers in the industry and Academy elected leaders over complimentary food in the true Austin way—a Spanish-style food truck located in the heart of the city, BOCA--and a hosted bar with Texas’s own Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Shiner Beer.

Following the networking mixer, Texas P&E Committee chair and producer/mixer Tim Palmer (David Bowie, Pearl Jam, Ozzy Osbourne, U2) sat down with multiple GRAMMY-winning producer and bassist extraordinaire Larry Klein (Freddie Hubbard, Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux) to discuss his career and perspectives on recording and working with artists.  Larry and Tim discussed dealing with shrinking budgets, being a musician songwriter and how that helps as a producer, accepting and adjusting to new technologies and industry models such as moving from analog recordings to digital, and more.
