On April 6, 2016 the Texas Chapter in partnership with the Producers and Engineers Wing presented GRAMMY Pro Studio Summit at the W Hotel in Dallas as a continuation of the GRAMMY Pro Summit series. We hit Houston in September focusing on publishing deals, Austin in November talking about revenue streams and resources for independent artists, and now we’ve landed in Dallas with a focus on producing and engineering.

The event brought together GRAMMY-winning engineer and mixer Tony Maserati and GRAMMY, Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated producer and P&E Wing Co-Chair, Harvey Mason, Jr. Tony discussed his mixing technique and strategies, his methods with working with artists, and how production affects the mix. He also shared personal examples of client feedback he gets on mixes and how he address it and emphasized that it takes teamwork to get a project done.

Harvey spoke about the importance of studying your craft and taking projects that allow you to grow. He also shared stories and his methods on adjusting his work style to fit with the artist’s. As a film music producer, he dove into comparing working on music for film versus records and gave specifics on how he created the music for some of his top film projects.

Rounding out the summit was a panel with Producers & Engineers Wing Managing Director Maureen Droney, Dallas-area Entertainment Attorney and former Texas Board member Tamera Bennett, and Harvey Mason, Jr. addressing key music advocacy issues that affect producers and engineers today. The panel provided information and resources to members on how they can get involved with The Recording Academy’s advocacy efforts.

To tap off the day, members had the chance to network during a mixer with complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. The Texas Chapter thanks our sponsors, Great South Bay Music Group, Inc. and Rev33 True Sound
