Texas Chapter Board Spotlight | Brian Courtney Wilson

Texas Chapter

  • Brian Courtney Wilson (Missouri City), Governor

What do you do in the music industry?

I am a singer/songwriter/recording artist in the inspirational/gospel genre

What does being a member of The Recording Academy mean to you?

It means that I belong to a great professional organization that is responsible for a rich musical legacy. I am honored to be a part of adding to it.

Tell us about the musical influences and inspirations that helped to shape your career.

I grew up in my church choir so it starts there. I was a part of a great college choir at the University of Illinois Black Chorus. Their focus was on the Black Sacred music tradition under the direction of Dr Ollie Watts Davis. I also discovered Donny Hathaway in college and fell in love with how his music made me feel like the divine was touching our pain.

If you weren’t working in the music industry, what would you be doing?

Ministry.

What projects are you currently working on?

My fourth solo project.
