Latin Music Outreach

Washington DC Chapter

Excitement filled the room on June 8th as the Recording Academy® Washington, D.C. Chapter Latin Committee gathered together for a dinner and outreach night at Rosa Mexicano.  Guests started the night with introductions and conversations as attendees awaited special guest and two-time Latin GRAMMY® nominated producer, Pedro “sP” Polanco.  The special moderator for the evening was none other than Latin Committee member and Latin Christian artist, Sabaa Tovar.

Throughout the night, Sabaa Tovar engaged sP with four major topics that surround today’s Latin music market including: pre-production planning, production strategies, marketing, and how to survive as an independent artist.  sP shared his knowledge on industry methods and strategies in a very intimate and organic way. He shared his personal experiences on working with diverse groups of people and spoke on finding musicians and artists who you could "vibe" with and create great music. One of the main key points of the night was the vibes between these artists and musician and how that essentially is what gets recorded.

The Latin Committee would like to thank everyone involved with this evening and on behalf of the co-chairs, Ferddy C. and Verny V., they would like to individually shout out the Latin Committee members for their contribution and ideas:  Arturo A. Teran, Sabaa Tovar, Alexandria “Alex” Davila, and Dominique Patrick Noel.  A special thank you goes out to our chapter Vice President, Von Vargas, for supporting the Latin Committee and attending the event.  Last but not least, a special thank you to our chapter trustee, Tracy Hamlin, for also playing a large part during the planning process.
